|   Portrait of a fovorite dog was executed in 1859 by listed French animale, genre, horse and portrait painter Louis Robert Heyrault ( active 1840-1880). He born and lived in Paris, studied by Delaroche and Picot. In 1857-1880 exhibited his works (most of all dog portraits and hunting scenes) at exhibitions of Salon de Paris. Literature: in German: Thieme/Becker "Allgemeines Lexikon der bildenden KJens tler von der Antike bis zur Gegenwart"; in French: E.Benezit "Dictionnaire des peintres, sculpteurs, dessinateurs et graveurs"; Bellier-Auvray, Dict. Gen., I (1882). Inscription: signed and dated 1859 in the middle left. Technique: oil on canvas. Luxuriousy original period gold-plated frame.
