Portrait of a fovorite dog was executed in 1859 by listed French animale, genre, horse and portrait painter Louis Robert Heyrault ( active 1840-1880). He born and lived in Paris, studied by Delaroche and Picot. In 1857-1880 exhibited his works (most of all dog portraits and hunting scenes) at exhibitions of Salon de Paris.
