Classicist portrait miniature of a lady in blue dress was executed around 1810 by Danish miniature painter Liepmann Fraenckel (1772 Parchim, Duchy Mecklenburg, Germany - 1857 Copenhagen).

Fraenckel was a pupil of Copenhagen Academy and of the miniaturist F.Ch. Camradt. He painted portraits in pastel and miniatures. Mainly he worked in Copenhagen and Stockholm, took part in exhibitions of these two cities between the years 1818 and 1843.
He was a miniature painter to King Frederik VI of Denmark, as well to his successor Christian IV.
Works of this artist can be viewed (among others) at the National Museum of Stockholm and Museum of Frederiksborg Castle, Denmark.


Provenance: Austrian private collection.

Inscription: monogrammed F.  on the left edge, on the back -collector's inscription in German.

Technique: gouache on ivory, painted in oval, original period frame.

Measurements: oval image (6,3 x 8,3 cm), framed (13 x 15 cm).
