Monumental nude painting with two lovers was executed in the last quarter of 19th century by a Spanish or Italian painter. The author used impasto paint in some places. On the  antique bronze plaque, mounted to the frame, is artist's name ” Frederico de Madrazo”. The same name we found on the old inscription on the back of the  original stretcher :”... autentique Madrazo..”.  Because the work is unsigned, we can not confirm any attribution to the hand of few existed Spanish painters named Madrazo, but to our opinion this magnificent work was executed by an Italian or Spanish painter. 

Inscription: unsigned; antique bronze plaque with the name "Frederico de Madrazo”; old illegible inscription on the back of the stretcher: .... authentique Madrazo...”.

Technique: oil on canvas, antique frame.

Measurements: unframed w. 61 1/2" x h. 29 1/2" (156 x 75 cm), framed 67" x 35" (170 x 89 cm). 

Condition: professionally cleaned, original canvas.
