Modernist still life with fish and lemon was executed in 1920s by Austrian listed painter and graphic artist Michael Frank Bauer, who was active in 1920s and died in 1940. He studied at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts under Sigmund L'Allemand, Christian Griepenkerl, and Rudolf Bacher. He traveled to southern France, Yugoslavia, and Italy for study. He worked in Vienna from approximately 1925-33. He created landscapes (e.g., Quarry in St. Margarethen, oil), figurative compositions, and floral a pieces and still life's.
