Modernist kitchen still life was executed in 1947 by listed  Slovakian painter Julian Nemčik ( 1909 Lipnikach-Vagaš - 1986). Studied at the Praque Art Academy (1936-1939) under Loukota, Obrovsky and Hönich. Worked in Kosice, before in Presov. As a member of the Art Society of artists in Bratislava, participating in his exhibitions since 1942. At other exhibitions in 1943 and 1944, 1947. In 1945, when the Association of Artists' Origins was created, he was elected chairman.

Inscription: signed and dated  (19)47 lower left, on the back is gift inscription in German: ”Familie Nemčik, Weihnachten 1947” (in English: family Nemčik, Christmas, 1947). 

Technique: oil on cardboard, original period frame.

Measurements:  unframed w 15 1/8" x h 15 3/4" (38,5 x 40 cm), framed 19 1/4" x 19 7/8"( 49 x 50,5 cm).

Condition: good original condition.
