This romantic landscape with castle ruins at the river was executed by Frwnch genre and landscape painter Jacques Hippolyte Van der Burch or Vanderburch (1786/1796 Paris - 1856 Paris). His teachers were David, Guerin and his father Jacques-André Van der Burch. He was also an art writer.

Inscription: signed lower left.

Technique: oil on canvas. Luxuriousy original period gold-plated frame.

Measurements: unframed w 9 5/8 " x h 7 5/8 " (24,5 x 19,3 cm), framed w 16 3/4 " x h 14 3/4 " (42,5 x 37,5 cm ).

Condition: in very good condition.
