This romantic landscape with castle ruins at the river was executed by Frwnch genre and landscape painter Jacques Hippolyte Van der Burch or Vanderburch (1786/1796 Paris - 1856 Paris). His teachers were David, Guerin and his father Jacques-André Van der Burch. He was also an art writer.
