Coast scene from Italian Cinque Terre was executed in 1890:by important Austrian post- impressionist landscape Alfred Zoff (1852 - Graz - 1927). The depiction of the moving elements of air and water was a favorite theme, especially among the Impressionists, who devoted themselves to the immediate realization of light and color impressions. The ideas of modern French painting were gradually taken up by the progressive academies in Central Europe. On his countless travels, Zoff often devoted himself to coastal landscapes, which were particularly important in the painting of Austrian atmospheric impressionism.
