Rare  view of the interior of the 5th hall of the Military Gallery in the Russian Royal Winter Palace in St.Petersburg. This watercolour was executed by good listed Russian painter Fedor Fedorivitch Lwow (1819 St.Petersburg - 1895 Moscow).

It's known a series of watercolors of the interiors of the Winter Palace, painted by Edward Hau in the order of Russian
Tsar ( now situated in the collectio of Hermitage, St.Petersburg), among which is also interior of this hall,
very similar to our watercolour.

Probably, because Fedor Lwow was
conference secretary (1859–1864) of the Academy of Arts, director of the Stroganov
School in Moscow (1885–1895),
he could have received permission from the Tsar to create this interior watercolor in
the Winter Palace.
Fedor Fedorovich Lvov ( 1819, St. Petersburg - 1895, Moscow) - Russian military engineer and amateur artist,
landscape painter; brother of musician and composer A.F. Lvov. Secretary of the Society for the Encouragement of
Artists (1857–1863),honorary free associate (from 1847) and conference secretary (1859–1864) of the Academy of Arts,
director of the Stroganov School in Moscow (1885–1895), actual state councilor (1877).
