Original gouache "St.John`s night" (in Russian: Notch nakanune Ivana Kupala; in German: Johannesnacht)) was executed in 1911 by Ukrainian painter Yuri Balitzki after the tale from   mystic story by famous Ukrainian-born Russian novelist, humorist, and dramatist Nikolai Gogol  "Evenings on a Farm Near Dikanka".
