Masterfully genre scene with a couple in love on the Venetian pier was aatteibuted due tothe very close composition, manner and comparison with his other works (see our additional images) to the hand of famous Austrian painter Franz Leo Ruben (Prague, 1842 - Munich 1920).
Eldest son of the previous one; studied 1859–67 at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts as a pupil of his father. After receiving the Reichel Prize (1869), Ruben went to Rome and, after a short stay in Vienna, to Venice in 1874, which he did not leave until the outbreak of war in 1914. His pictures mainly show life in Venice. From 1870 he was a member of the Association of Fine Artists of Vienna, after having participated in their exhibitions since 1868. R., who was awarded medals at the World Exhibition in Vienna (1873) and in Munich (1883), was an honorary member of the Venice Academy of Fine Arts.
