Still life with pansies  due to the fully identical manner and composition was attributed to the hand of French flower  painter Eugène Claude (1841 Toulouse - 1923 Paris).

Successful with still lifes, especially flowers, fruits, victuals; also (kitchen) interior and animal pictures; portrait (oil and pastel). Member of the Soc. des Artistes franc. Distinguished at Salons: 1880, '85 Mention honorable; 1887 med. 3rd class; 1895 Med. 2nd Class and Hors Concours.
