Scene in front of the Estonian farm was painted by the Estonian-German painter Gregor Bochmann (1850 Nehat/Estonia - 1930 Hösel by Düsseldorf). Apprenticeship with Theodor Albert Sprengel in Reval (Tallinn). Studied: 1868-71 with a Revaler Schiller scholarship at the Düsseldorf Art Academy with Oswald Achenbach. Here from 1895 professorship. Travels in Estonia and to the Netherlands. Paints landscapes and popular subjects of the Estonians and Dutch fishermen in old-masterly, , brownish coloring. Later he approaches Impressionism.
