This marine painting "Fishermen returning home" was executed by famous Russian painter and graphic artist Fedor (Theodor) Illich Baikoff (1818-1890).

As a freelance student in the 1840s, he attended the Academy of Arts. As a student, he received a small silver medal in 1846 for a "battle picture".

He lived and painted his canvases either in St. Petersburg or in Tiflis. Among his battle paintings, the most famous are: "The Capture of the Akhty Fortress", "The Battle of the Village of Kyuryuk-Dara in the vicinity of the Kars Fortress on July 24, 1854", "At the Military Camp", "The Departure of the Guards Cossack Regiment during the War with Sweden in 1808" , "Surrender of Kars on November 16, 1855", "Kochevka" and others.

In 1862 F.I. Baikov was awarded the title of battle painting artist. He painted a painter and landscapes, and was also a very high-class lithographer.

In the 1860s he created an album of lithographs "Transcaucasian Scenes and Types", which was a great success with the artistic community of the country of that time.
