This oriental landscape with view of Cairo was executed by famous German painter Oswald Achenbach ( 1827 - Düsseldorf - 1905 ) . This is an early work Boy ihm, created under the influence and in the style of his teachers at the Düsseldorf Academy, J. M. Schirmer and J. Rottmann. In his biography, we found no evidence of his Egyptian paintings, only a reference to his first trip in 1840, without specifying the places of residence. Perhaps he was then in the east, or the picture was painted in a studio in Dusseldorf under the influence of the then fashion for oriental motifs.

Of the works that Achenbach painted until 1850, only a few have survived. These show that he was still strongly influenced by the understanding of art that was taught at the art academies at that time, both in the choice of his motifs and in his painting technique. The painterly influence of Johann Wilhelm Schirmer and Carl Rottmann can still be seen in these paintings.

Oswald Achenbach was the represantative of Düsseldorf School and already during his life time one of most important landscape painters in Europe. His brother was the twelve years older Andreas Achenbach, who also belonged to the important German landscape painters of the 19th century. The two brothers were called ironically also the "nuts and bolts of the landscape".Born in Düsseldorf, he received his art education from his brother, Andreas Achenbach. His landscapes generally dwell on the rich and glowing effects of color which drew him to the Bay of Naples and the neighborhood of Rome. He also painted in the Bavarian Alps and Switzerland. From 1863 to 1872, he was professor of landscape painting at the Düsseldorf Academy. His conception of nature what more perfect than that of his brother. Achenbach attempted to convey social problem through his paintings. He died in Düsseldorf of to inflammation of the lungs. He is represented at most of the important German galleries of modern art, and many of his pictures are in the international museums.
