View of village with a watch tower somewhere by Baku on the Capian Sea coast. The painting created in 1872 by very renowed Russian - German painter Paul von Franken (1818 Oberbachem bei Godesberg - 1884 Duesseldorf). He He was a last painter of the romantic epoche , which in the middle of 19 century found his way into the Caucasus. The typical representative of late romantic time, Franken looked for the motives of his works in the mysterious meaning  of  nature, whose beauty and purity an eternal inspiration-pour for the romantic artist represented. With the experienced eye of a nature connoisseur from River Rioni or the areas around the city Kutaisi wrapped completely in green painted the Caucasian mountain landscapes, the wild river. Other drawings again kidnap the viewer into the old part of town of Tiflis. One can feel the strange, eastern flair of this city, which must have exercised an inconceivable attraction to the romantic of Franken. People´s figures play in his representations nevertheless a Main place , they are addition to the landscapes , central component of his works. This landscape representations of the painter make interesting his works until today and obtain an impression of the unaffected nature of the Caucasus this time.
