Besides the most important German romanticist Caspar David Friedrich ranks Dahl today among the most important representatives of the Dresdens romantic school. Dahl under others found numerous motives in the environment of Dresden, painted it the Elbe again and again in the moon light. He achieved a large perfection n the depicting of the moonlight landscape, which met a clear approval also here in our painting "Fisher camp on Elbe in moonlight" . Whether the painting possibly made Dahl, is difficult today to occupy but in the composition execution reminds it at the works of Dahl in the monography by Mrs. Marie Lodrup Bang "The list of worksby Dahl" . Among Dahl `s most well-known pupils rank Christian Friedrich Gille (1805-1899), Julius of Leypold (1806-1874) and Ernst Friedrich Oehme (1797 - 1855). Possibly one of them, today likewise important representatives of the Dresdens romanticism school , created our painting .
