Large genre scene with two lovely king charles spaniels, waiting on reward, was executed 1846 by well- known Belgian animal and genre artist Emanuel Noterman (1808 Oudenaarde - 1863 Antwerpen). Painter of portraits, animals and genre scenes. Excelled in portaying dogs and monkeys  in human roles. Pupil of J.B. Maes-canini and P.Kremer. Towards 1846 Noterman had a studio at the Anwerp Academy. He exhbited in Brussels from 1836 onwards and occasionally worked with F.Lamoriniere, hose works he often enriched with animals. Represented in the Museums  Amsterdam, Brussels, Chlons-sur-Marne , Liege, Brooklyn, Montreal.
