Genre scene with lovers in the boat and a nymph came from antique mythology and many painters from the end of 19th . beginning of 20th century used this subject for their allegorical scenes. Our painting was executed 1892 by well renown Austrian genre , portrait and still life painter Josef Jungwirth (1869 Vienna - 1950 Stockholm). He studied at the Vienna Fine Arts academy under S. l´Allemand, August Eisenmenger, Kasimir Pochwalski. Afzter study he travelled to Italy, later to Germany and Holland.From 1910 to 1934 he was professor of Academy in Vienna, from 1928 to 1930 - rector of the academy. Since 1902- member of artist union "Kuenstlerhaus", , since 1934 - honor member of union "Alte Welt". The artist was awarded with different prizes: Dumba-Prize 1903; Kaiser-Prize 1905, Gold State Medall on the international IX. exhibition in Vienna; Erz-herzog Calr Ludwig 1907, silver medall of city Graz 1909; Grand Gold State Medall ; State Medall of city Vienna 1917; Goethe medall for Art and Laurel Wreath of Vienna art union "Kuenstlerhaus".
