Our romantical portrait of a young lady created by Albert Graefle (1807 Freiburg in Breisgau - 1889 Munich), entered the Munich Academy in 1927 to study under Julius Schnorr and Peter Cornelius, continued his studies in the Munich Pinakothek and then with his friend Franz Xaver Winterhalter. In 1830´s he started dedicating himself mainly to portrait painting. For further studying he moved 1839 to Paris. There he joined Winterhalter, for whom he often worked between 1840-45, mainly copying his portraits of personalities of the time. He also often accompanied Winterhalter to London, to assist the very demanded master in his various commissions.
