View of ruins of castle Weitenegg on the Danube was executed before 1870 ( due to the Wikipedia  fact that east tower was destroyed in 1870) and due to the very close similarities was attributed to the hand of good listed Austrian landscape and history painter Ferdinand Lepié, also Ferdinand Lepgé (1824 in Prague - 1883 in Vienna). For comparison with another view of this castle by the same artist see our plast additional image.

Lepié studied at the Prague Academy of Fine Arts from 1841 to 1844. 1850–1860 he was a teacher at the Strahov Monastery in Prague. One of his students was the later landscape painter Alois Kirnig. He then moved to Vienna and gave drawing lessons at the imperial court.
Lepié created topographically accurate landscape images of Prague and Austrian areas such as the Salzkammergut, the Danube or Baden near Vienna.
