This rare portrait miniature of a young lady dressed as a Tyrolian hunter was executed ca. 1840 by the renowed Austrian portrait and miniature painter Adolf Theer (1811-1868). Brother of ánother Austrian miniature painters Robert and Albert  Theer, the artist studied at the Vienna Academy and began exhibiting in 1832.

Inscription: signed lower left .

Technique: gouache on ivory. Original brass frame, later mounted in wood frame.

Measurements: unframed w 3 1/4" x h 4" (8,4 x 10,2 cm), framed w 6 1/2" x h 7 1/4" (16,5 x 18,3 cm).

Condition: in good condition, no cracks or restorations.
