Post-Impressionism painting with figures on a harbour promenade in French Riviera was executed by French painter of Russian origin Andre Petroff (1894 - 1975 Nice).
Petrov, Andrey (1894-1975) – artist of the Russian emigration. Born in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Studied at the Drawing School of the Society for the Encouragement of Arts ( in Russian ТЗХ) from 1909 to 1914. Graduated with a gold medal and a diploma of a drawing teacher. During his studies, he was engaged in interior design and scenography. He made a successful debut at the International Exhibition of Graphics and Printing (1914, Leipzig). Settled in Paris (1919), entered the School of Fine Arts (1920), where he studied under F. Cormon. Moved to Nice (1923). Traveled extensively to Corsica (1930), Morocco, Algeria (1931-1932), Italy (1935-1938). He took part in group exhibitions in Nice (1937–1943), the French Riviera (1947–1951), Monte Carlo (1958), London (1960), and Rome (1968–1969). His solo exhibitions took place in Nice (1927, 1929, 1935, 1971), Paris (1935, 1936), The Hague (1936–1938, 1953, 1954, 1956), and Cagnes-sur-Merrie (France). He worked in easel painting and watercolor. He painted in the genres of landscape, still life, and portraiture. His favorite motifs were the old streets and ports of Nice, and views of the Netherlands with windmills. His works are presented in museums in Nice, Grenoble, The Hague, and other cities.

Inscription: monogrammed lower right, on the back of cover is two cutted windows to see the original cardboard, on the first one is inscription with the name of the artist and in the second - the stamp of a Export stamp from an art committee in Bulgaria.
Technique: oil on thin cardboard, original gilt frame.
Measurements: unframed w. 19 2/3" x h. 14 1/8" (50 x 36 cm), framed w. 25 1/3" x h. 19 2/3" (64,5 x 50 cm).
