This genre scene from Ottoman Empire was executed by listed French painter-orientalist Jules Gasson, who was pupil of Vernet, worked in Paris and travelled to Algier, which was until 1830 a province of Ottoman Empire before it became the colony of France. Due to subject this painting was executed by the author, probably, before 1830s. We found old selling result of it, this painting was sold in Sotheby's London on 11.07.1996 for 3200 € (hammer price).
