This study of the head of a Roebuck was executed in 1825 and due to Monogramm and comparison with similar animal studies (cow, horse, donkey, lion and others) by the same artist, source www.artprice.com) was attributed as early work by famous German landscape painter Heinrich Bürkel (1892-1869 Munich).

Johann Heinrich Bürkel (* 29 May 1802 in Pirmasens; † 10 June 1869 in Munich) was a German painter of the Biedermeier period. He mainly painted landscapes and depictions of folk life in the Alps and Italy.

here is quotation from his biography : Heinrich Bürkel specialized in the depiction of landscapes at an early stage. From 1824 he was one of the first and most important members of the newly founded Munich Art Association, which enabled him to exhibit his paintings independently of the Academy.
