Seascape with fishing boats off Ostend in Belgium (original artist's title ”Fischerboote vor Ostende) was executed by good listed Austrian landscape painter Adolf Kaufmann (1848 Troppau - 1916 Vienna). Adolf Kaufmann was influenced by the French paysage intime, the school of Barbizon. Artists, whom he met in Paris in 1870, left a lasting mark on Adolf Kaufmann in his manner of painting. He proved to be a very good observer of nature. He preferred in his motives mostly contrasty, colorful, atmospheric representations of forests, trees, streams and smaller ponds, in which he often with preference, typical for him, inserted individuals.
