Portrait miniature of a young gentleman was executed in 1827 by good listed Austrian miniaturist Franz Schneck (1773 Vienna - 1857 Vienna). His miniatures on ivory are extremely rare on the art market, we found onlly 2 miniatures since 30 years, one of them is portrait of Countess Rosetti-Roznovan, née Princess Ghika, 1824, represented for sale for 8500 USD by Viennese gallery Boris Wilnitsky.
Franz Schneck was first mentioned in 1806 as student of the Fine Arts Academy in Vienna. He was still represented at the academic exhibitions of 1828 and 1835. In 1839 he lived in Wien-Wieden district in Vienna.
