Allegorical painting "Four Ages of Life" was executed in 1848 by Carl Josef Geiger (1822 - Vienna - 1905), good listed Austrian historical and mythological Austrian painter, graphic artist and illustrator.
Geiger was a student at the art academy in Vienna. Through his teachers, he later became a student of the history painter Joseph von Führich.
Geiger focused on numerous historical and religious themes and was able to make a name for himself early on. In addition to independent work, commissioned work should also be mentioned, including the design of a votive altar in St. Stephen's Cathedral, the large curtain of the Carltheater and the artistic design of several rooms in the Palais Kinsky and the Vienna Stock Exchange.
Geiger also provided many templates (drawings) for woodcuts by other artists.
