View from Lake Gosause to the mountain Dachstein was executed famous Austrian landscape painter by Anton Schiffer (1811 Graz - 1876 Vienna).
Son and student of the theater painter Franz Josef Schiffer, who worked in Klagenfurt and Bruch ad Mur, as well as grandson of the Styrian baroque painter Matthias Schiffer. From 1833 to 1835, Anton Schiffer studied at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts with L. Kupelwieser and subsequently accepted regularly As one of the most important landscape painters of his time in Austria, Schiffer preferred motifs from the Austrian and Swiss Alps.
