Jacobus Johannes van Poorten, born in 1841 in Deventer in the Netherlands, died in 1914 in the German Hanseatic city of Hamburg, was a Dutch artist who is best known and appreciated for his atmospheric landscape depictions. He found his motifs in the area around Hamburg, where he spent a large part of his life.
Jacobus Johannes van Poorten's paintings continue to enjoy great popularity because of their timeless themes.
