Lovely kitten paintings was executed by French painter Leon Charles Huber (1858-1928), who specialized in animals, in particular cats. Huber was also known for helping the poor by offering food and other services every day from his studio. In addition, Huber tutored many young artists. Born in Montmartre, Paris, he studied painting at L’Ecole des Beaux-Arts with Jules Grun, who sketched his portrait on the left. He exhibited his animale works at the Salon of French Artists from 1887. He won numerous awards for his art, and his works are in numerous private collection around the world.
