Our masterfully portrait of Karl von Bohr with his daughter was executed by good listed Austrian painter Johann Evangelist Kasner (1776-1827) and was exhibited at several important exhibitions of the time. Since being child Kastner showed a talent to portrait painting and in 1800 he entered Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. He was adored for his portraits of Viennese high society and his works are located in museums in Vienna.
According to the antique memory inscription on the backside of the canvas with the age of depicted Karl Ritter von Bohr (born 1772) and his dauther (born 1803) we suppose that the painting was executed in ca. 1810s.
Inscription: Inscribed in German on the reverse on old original label : "Portrait of Karl Ritter von Bohr with his daughter Josefine, upper left corner an arms of Geraldic Society. K.V. von Bohr, born 1772, daughter was born in 1803. The painting executed by Johann Evangelist Kastner (born 1776)..." On the reverse on stretcher an old exhibition´s label of the late 19th century of famous Viennese Gallery Miethke, an old label with catalogue´s number of Gallery F.Koehler, in upper right corner a label of Vienna Artists Unit.
