Monumental extensive Alpine landscape with a waterfall and a lake on the background. Due to the original inscription on the back of the canvas it is Lake Hintersee in the Bavarian Alps. This museum quality work was executed in 1850-s by renown German landscape painter Albert (August Albert) Zimmermann (1808 Zittau - 1888 Munich). The artist is high-listed in the international literature and price date banks. We have also another one landscape by him under item No. 392.
Zimmermann was a student at the Art Academies in Munich and Dresden. Austrian gouvernment sent him in 1857 as professor to Academy in Milan , where he worked untill 1859.In 1860/1871 he waorked in Vienna at the Academy . in early 1880-s he moved to Salzburg and since 1885 to Munich.
His works are in the different prominent private collections around of the world and public museums of Germany and Austria.
