Large romantical genre painting with Romeo and Juliet , the popular characters from William Shakespeare’s romantically tragedy was executed in 1875 by good listed Austrian portrait, genre and nude painter Franz Russ II (1844 - 1906), the son of the historical painter Franz Russ senior and brother of the painter Robert Russ. Franz Russ studied at the Fine Arts Academy in Vienna under Christian Ruben and worked in Vienna and Paris. His romantical paintings with madonnas and oriental beauties recieved acknowledge among collectors in Europe and USA.
