This nude painting of best quality was executed by world famous Hungarian female nude painter Maria Szantho (1897 - 1998), who has been popular for almost a century. She was born in Szeged, Hungary in 1897 and studied in her homeland under the tutelage of Kukan Geza. In 1924 the artist started to exhibit her paintings at the Mucsarnok Salon in Budapest, principally portraying female nudes. Critics note that in her creative work Szantho was initially influenced by Hungarian artists Lotz and Benczur, but later developed her own original style.
