This portrait watercolour of a noble teenage boy was executed in 185 by listed Czech portrait painter Antonin Volkmer ( 1813, Ústí nad Orlicí (Czech Republic) - 1858 Praque). His portrait watercolours are very rare on the international art market.
The artist is listed in: Dr.Prokop Toman, Dictionary of Czech Painters, Prague, 1947.
Inscription: signed and dated 1850 lower left, on the back of the wooden cover are inscriptions in German about the depicted person: " Grandfather Rudolf Bosch, married with Caroline Bayer".
Technique: watercolor on paper, painted in oval. Original period gilt frame.
Measurements: unframed w 8 7/8" x h 10 1/2" (22,5 x 26,5 cm), framed w 14 1/8" x h 15 3/4" (36 x 40 cm).
