Masterfully genre scene in peasant interior with a girl playing with her cat, was executed by good listed German painter of the Duesseldorf school Julius Kost (1807Meissen - 1888 Düsseldorf ). Kost studied painting at the Düsseldorf Art Academy. From 1840 to 1843 he was a student in Johann Wilhelm Schirmer´s landscape class. He was also a member of the Malkasten artists´ association. Kost, who worked as a painter in Düsseldorf, created landscapes, cityscapes and genre pictures.
