Humorfully portrait of a drinker was executed by famous Munich genre painter Alphons Spring (1843 Libau / Kurland [Liepaja] to 1908 Bad Oeynhausen), childhood in Libau near Riga, determined by his father to be a merchant in 1859 and sent to St. Petersburg for an apprenticeship at the St. Petersburg Academy, temporarily interrupting his studies to earn a living as a photo retoucher, from approx. 1868 two-year study trip, including 1869 to Tyrol, from December 1870 based in Munich, studied at the Munich Academy from 1871–74 with Wilhelm von Diez , from 1874 active in his own studio in Munich, sent the world exhibitions in Paris in 1889 and in Chicago in 1893 and also exhibitions in Vienna, Munich, Bremen, Dresden, Nuremberg and Berlin, member of the Munich Art Association and founding member of the artist society Allotria, died on a convalescent journey in Bad Oeynhausen.
