Panoramic view of Wetterstein mountains with Zugspitze ( zwischen Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Austrian Tirol) was executed by good listed Munich landscape painter Erwin Kettemann (1897 Munich - 1971 Tegernsee).

Erwin Kettemann was born in Munich in 1897 and became a successful Munich landscape painter. He saw himself in the tradition of mountain and landscape painters of the late 19th century.

He preferred the Chiemsee and the Bavarian Alps as motifs for his paintings. His Chiemsee paintings are clearly reminiscent of "the Chiemsee maler" Wopfner and Raupp, in whose successor Ketteman can be seen. In a skilful impressionist manner, he masterfully reproduce the moods of the landscapes he prefers as a motif.Even though he painted at a time when the era of Impressionism had already ended in art history, his paintings radiate everything that constitutes good impressionist landscape painting. This painterly high quality of his paintings made him a successful painter. He left behind an extremely comprehensive, in-itself very consistent painterly work. Erwin Kettemann died in Munich in 1971.
