A charming scene with dogs done by a famous painter and lithographer Adolphe (Jean Baptist) Lafosse, b.1810 Paris - d.1879 Paris. A famous painter and especially lithographer, pupil of P.Delaroche. Since 1830 he had exhibited genre and animalist paintings at the Salon. The artist principally maid lithographs, partially original, sometimes after contemporary artists. Our work is done after a painting by a renowned animalist painter Godefroy (Louis Godefroy) (1805-1882).
Inscription: print signed in French "Lafosse d´apres Jadin" lower middle.
Technique: lithography on paper. The lithography dates back to the first half of 19th century framed within a period frame with a wood veneer and carved corners
Measurements: image w 13 1/2" x h 17 1/3" (34.5 x 44 cm); framed w 20 1/3" x h 26 2/3" (51.5 x 68 cm)
Condition: generally good with a few stains over the margins
