Genre scene with dreaming women on the castle terrace was executed in 1849 by by morning toilet was executed by listed French romanticist genre, portrait and landscape painter Edmond Leclercq (1817 Arras - 1853 Paris). He studied by Constant Dutilleux in Arras, then came to work in workshop of Eugene Delacroix in Paris. He exhibited at Salon de Paris in 1841, 1843 and 1849. The artist of great skill, he was often sought as "Negro" by such painters as of Horace Vernet and Jean Charles Langlois who asked him to paint horses or certain elements of their paintings. Himself was primarily a painter of battles, tournaments, portraits and landscapes.
