The author of the painting listed Ukrainian-born Polish painter Konstantin Szewsczenko (1915-1991). The artist depicts mostly Rabbis and other Jewish subjects, this being a highly typical example adding to its collectibility. Szewczenko was born in Warsaw in 1909. He studied at the Warsaw Academy of Arts, and took part in various international exhibitions in Warsaw and abroad. He died in 1991 and his works have become scarser and more valuable since then.
