Impressionistic view of the lagoon of Venice was executed by German landscape and marine painter Alfred ("Alf") August Felix Bachmann (1863 in Dirschau - 1956 in Ambach am Starnberger See).

Bachmann was born the son of the secret government councilor Franz Bachmann and the Valerie Cords. He attended high schools in Breslau, Münster, Schnepfenthal and Berlin. At the Königsberg Art Academy, he was a student of Max Schmidt. Study trips have taken him to the North Sea islands, Iceland, Venice, the Scilly Islands, Normandy, Portugal and Tenerife., Istambul.

From 1891 he lived in Munich, from 1941 in Ambach on Lake Starnberg.His work mainly includes depictions of coastal landscapes, but also moor and dune landscapes. From 1887 he regularly exhibited in the Munich Glass Palace. His works are in several public collections.He was appointed by Otto Erich Hartleben to the "Halkyonische Akademie für anwendwenden Wissenschaft". Bachmann made the last portrait of Hartleben "on the deathbed" (published as a special publication of the academy as "last greeting").
