Bovec (German: Flitsch) is a municipality and its eponymous town in northwestern Slovenia. It is located in the Alpine region of the Julian Alps in the Soča valley.
This landscape on the edge of small town Flitsch was executed by Austrian landscape painter Joseph Altenkopf (1818 in Vienna - after1868 probably in Eisenstadt ) was an Austrian landscape painter. As the son of a principal school principal, Altenkopf initially worked as a civil servant. However, this did not appeal to him, which is why he started a scientific career as a teacher, but also broke it off after a short time and devoted himself to art. He painted landscapes as oil paintings, for which he became known. He was also the director of a gallery in Esterházy. In 1850 he exhibited his most famous works at the Austrian art association.
