This portrait of a pipe-smoker with a glas of wine was executed by listed German genre and portrait painter Hrvoi Melkus, who was born 1924 in Zagreb in the family of landscape painter Dragan Hrovi, settled in Munich, where recieved acknowledge for his genre scenes with Bavarian folk types .

Inscription: signed lower left, on the reverse - old label of art gallery Franz fischer in Stuttgart and label with short bio of the artist.

Technique: oil on wood panel, original gold-plated period frame.

Measurements: image w 9 1/2 " x h 11 7/8" (24 x 30 cm); framed w 15" x h 17 1/2 " (38 x 44,5 cm).

Condition: in very good condition.
