Extremely high quality portrait miniature on ivory of a young lady in white dress and red shawl was executed in 1818 by famous Swiss-Italian miniature painter and calligrapher Lois (Jacques-Louis) Comte ( 1781 Payerne - 1843 Naples). In 1797 he worked as drawing teacher in Cugy (Swiss canton Freiburg), in 1807-1812 in Freiburg, later came to Neapel , where he worked for Neapolitan court. Due to his biographical dates our miniature was painted by him in Naples and depicts a young noble lady from Italian high society. In the estate of the Grand Duchess of Tuscany was his miniature portrait of Empress Isabella of Naples; in the collection of Alfred von Stasser war a miniature portrait of the Countess Aldobrandini. In the monography by Shidlof described a miniature of a lady from the collection of Dr. Ullman, dated 1843.

Inscription: , illegible remained of signature on the lower right edge; signed by the artist on the back cover and dated 1818.
Technique: Gouache on ivory, original period frame with gilded bronze inner matt..
Measurements: unframed diameter 2 3/8" (6 cm), framed w 4 7/8" x h 4 7/8" (12,5 x 12,5 cm).
Condition: in good condition, no any cracks or inpaintings.
