Splendid still life with flowers, bird‘s nest and butterfly was executed ca. 1900 by listed French painter Clement Gontier (1876 -1918). Pupil of J.P. Lauren’s. At the age of 25, he was second in the painting competition for the Grand Prix de Rome and entered the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. He was a member of Salon des Artises francais, obtaining a third class medal in 1904; and received the Julian Academy Award.
