This is menu card ( lithograph in colors) of the coronation banquet of the Russian Emperor Alexander III on May 27, 1883. It was executed on the cartographic plant of A. Iljin in St.Petersburg in the same time after design of prominent historical painter Victor Vasnetsov. This banquet was intended for the people´s representatives, took place in the Alexander Hall of the Grand Kremlin Palace in Moscow and was part of the coronation ceremonies in Moscow and St.Petersburg. Celebrations devoted to the coronation lasted for two weeks.. Their program included the opening of the State Historical Museum, the consecration of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, and ended all the royal observation of troops. In parallel with Russia, lush entertainment took place in Denmark. This kingdom rejoiced that the Danish princess, the daughter of King Christian, became the Empress Maria Fedorovna of Great and Mighty Russia.

The author of this menu design is famous Russian painter Victor Vasnetsov (1848-1926 Moscow), who specialized in mythological and historical subjects. He is considered the co-founder of Russian folklorist and romantic nationalistic painting and a key figure in the Russian revivalist movement.
