This genre painting was executed by good listed and popular German hunting and horse painter Fritz van der Venne. Friedrich "Fritz" Adolf Wilhelm van der Venne, also Fritz Ritter van der Venne (* 24 October 1873 in Munich; † 29 December 1936) was a German animal, landscape and genre painter, son of Adolf van der Venne (1828 – 1911). His Russian and other east-European scenes with horse, hunters and wolfs are until today popular among collectors in Germany and Russia.
