Extremelly rare antique view of Naviglio di Porta Romano in Milan (the canal along via Francesco Sforza) , this small round oil painting was executed in 1835 by Italian architecture and landscape painter Govanni Battisto Dell’Acqua (1788 - Milan - 1868 ). The artist was born in Milan on 13 August 1788. A pupil of Giovanni Migliara, at the Academy Brera in Milan, he devoted himself to the city views of small format, inside caves or underground, nocturnal with moonlight. His works are very rare on the international art market. He died in Milan on 9 September 1868.

Inscription: signed and dated G. Batt. Dell’ Acqua 1835 on the edge of image.
