Monumental and masterfully seascape with French ships and a a coastal town somewhere in the French Britanny was executed by Wilhelm Emil Meyer-Rhodius ( 1815 - Cologne - 1897 ). He was the student of renowned seascape painter Andreas Achenbach at the Duesseldorf Academy and our painting also shows the influence of the author’s famous teacher. Meyer‘s seascapes are in museums of Antwerp and Cologne.
